Clara was the first guest speaker at talk series “Relats en Femení” in Ullà

Saturday, February 7, Clara Garcia i Ortés, president of be artsy NGO, was the first guest in the talk series Relats en Femení, organized by the Ullà Town Council in Baix Empordà (Girona, Spain), a territory where the NGO maintains an active and close presence.

The conversation, guided by the exceptional Cristina Cantal, opened an honest space for reflections and anecdotes about the realities of women here and there.

One of the most striking moments was the blanket placed on the floor between the audience and the stage, representing the real size of a Chhaugoth: the small hut where many Nepalese women are forced to sleep during their menstrual days. Assistants were shocked to realize how limited is the only space theses women have during those days.

This reality, as part of the Chhaupadi tradition, is still present in rural areas of western Nepal and is the reason behind our Rato Baltin project, through which we defend the rights and improve the dignity of Nepalese women.

The exhibition explaining this tradition and the project will remain open at the Sant Andreu Chapel in Ullà throughout the entire talk series.
