In Achham, in western Nepal, many women have never had the opportunity to make decisions about their own lives.
Some became widows at a very young age and, after their husbands die, they are often forced out of their homes and lose access to land.
Others were married before the age of 18. Child marriages that are often not legally registered. When these women are abandoned, they have no legal recognition and receive no institutional or social support.
They are commonly referred to as “single women”.
But they all share the same reality: a lack of opportunities to build a future with autonomy.
The Happy Women Training Center was born here. Not as just another training space, but as a place where women can begin again.
When a woman has no income, she cannot decide.
When she cannot decide, she cannot leave situations of violence, dependency, or exclusion.
For years, we have worked on menstrual health and education. But there was one question we could not ignore:
what happens next?
Real change does not come from information alone.
It comes when a woman can generate her own income, support herself, and be recognized within her community. That is why we created the Happy Women Training Center:
to move from awareness to autonomy.
Today, the project is part of be artsy’s broader strategy to create sustainable long-term change.
Global impact of the Rato Baltin project up to 2026:
- 105,931 people have taken part in our projects
- 5,835 girls are currently using menstrual cups in Achham
Through the Happy Women Training Center:
- Training in sewing and the production of reusable sanitary pads
- Incense-making workshops using local materials
- Food preservation workshops
- Natural soap-making workshops
- Safe spaces for women in vulnerable situations
This center does not only provide training.
It offers a real alternative to economic dependency.
You can be part of this change too.
With your support:
- a woman can access training
- she can generate income
- she can make decisions about her own life
